Mabuda Farm , Siteki

Mabuda or "Place of Dreams" is the romantic farm enthroned atop the beautiful Lubombo Mountains. This is a place where time stands still. A place where the wind whispers tales of forgotten colonial days and the dust clouds drift like shadows behind the old tractors.

This scenic and active farm has much to offer the visitor: A farm tour by horse-back might take you past interesting crops and captivating views. Care to milk a cow? The dairy has been milking since the 1930’s. Self guided trails lead to unique birding opportunities and along cool and secretive forest pathways. (Look out for the secret garden.)

1 Km from Mabuda lies the little town of Siteki; affording an explorer basic shopping, an ATM and a couple of restaurants. A stroll is safe and always entertaining. Siteki is also known for the Good Shepherd Hospital which serves the people of the Lubombo region. Mabuda is a well sited for those en-route to Mozambique, Kruger Park to the North or St Lucia to the South.

There is plentiful choice of accommodation to suit the pocket: The 1930’s stylethatched rondavels with authentic period decor and mountain views are larger and more luxurious. The 4 sleeper thatched chalets have veranda’s overlooking the mountain and valley beyond. The 6 roomed budget facility with bunk-beds offers the traveller a convenient option. Shady campsites have plug-points and braai facilities.

Produce freshly harvested from the farm is sold and included in the continental breakfast. All accommodation is equipped for self-catering, or, a restaurant within 5 minutes drive can be recommended. Braai facilities, swimming pool and WiFi are available.

Mabuba Farm is also part of a new initiative which will see a number of Eco Trails developed within the Lubombo Mountains. Eco walks and treks will be opened up, to allow visitors to explore the area better on foot, as well connect to local projects and communities. Click here for more information.
